The Douglas C-47 Skytrain is a military transport aircraft developed from the civilian Douglas DC-3 airliner. It was used extensively by the Allies during World War II and remained in service with various military operations through the 1950s.

During the Berlin Airlift(1948-1949), Allied airplanes hauled tons of supplies for the citizens of West-Berlin. The supply airplane took off or landed in Tempelhop Airport West-Berlin every 30 seconds. The C-47 Skytrain played a major role during the beginning stage of the Berlin Airlift.
